Common Failures and Causes of Diaphragm Pumps

Failure: Failure to discharge liquid or insufficient discharge

Causes:

① Blockage in the suction pipe or the suction line valve not being opened.

② Excessive length of the suction pipeline with too many sharp bends.

③ Leakage in the suction pipeline.

④ Damage to the sealing surfaces of the suction valve or discharge valve.

⑤ Residual air trapped inside the diaphragm.

⑥ Leakage of air or oil in the oil compensation valve group, diaphragm chamber, or other components.

⑦ Abnormal operation of the relief valve or compensating valve.

⑧ Severe leakage at the plunger packing.

⑨ Insufficient or unstable motor speed.

⑩ Excessively low liquid level in the suction tank.

Failure: Pump pressure fails to meet performance parameters

Causes:

① Damage to the suction or discharge valves.

② Severe leakage at the plunger packing.

③ Poor sealing at the diaphragm or discharge pipe joint.

Failure: Reduced metering accuracy

Causes:

① Same as items ④ to ⑩ in "Failure to discharge liquid or insufficient discharge."

② Zero point deviation of the plunger.

Failure: Overheating of parts

Causes:

① Excessive or insufficient oil in the transmission mechanism oil tank, with impurities in the oil.

② Poor lubrication of the moving pairs.

③ Over-tightened packing.

Failure: Impact noise inside the pump

Causes:

① Severe wear of the moving pairs.

② Excessively high valve lift.
